Josh,
I hate to burst your bubble, but the tow truck with the DeLorean on the back is a stock photo used in ads. My local Yellow Pages, Orangeburg, SC, has had this ad, minus the "Towing for Jesus" part, for several years. It has been used by this particular local tow company for quite sometime. In fact, I submitted a copy of it to "DeLorean World" over a year ago, and they printed it. I'm curious as to how many other Yellow Pages have this same ad used by a local tow service.

Dear friend, You are looking at a leaking waterpump. Unless you are a competent mechanic, I would suggest you order the waterpump and intake manifold gasket set from one of the DeLorean suppliers and get a local garage to change it.

And it doesn't necessarily show all of those. Only the ones that a given state has chosen to put in the database that CarFax uses. My car only showed the title transfer to me, but did not show the original owner back in 1982 even though I actually saw the title and know that he had one.

You need to look a little closer to actually tell. Remember that the leak will always be above where you see the antifreeze.
If the leak seems to be coming from behind the pulley in the center, then it probably is a bad water pump, not a hose.

Someone with a little programming experience could write a script that would automatically try every VIN and record which are and aren't found. I may try to do this now that you got me thinking. If I get any interesting results I'll post them.

If you are saying there is a leak from the center of the engine (e.g. under the intake), then you are referring to the 4 coolant hoses buried under the intake. The only way to get to them is to remove the intake. This was done to my car a month or two ago. I too had a weeping coming from that area. Inspection revealed original coolant hoses with original clamps, along with a socket for spark plugs and organic matter that used to be leaves. Since replacement of those 4 hidden hoses, the coolant system has no leaks. Good luck.

Doesn't anyone find it annoying that the Delorean is being used as "the quintessential vehicle in need of a towing service"? I think I would find it a bit insulting.

Dear List:
In Journalism class, we have to choose a person, and find information about that person's background. What they did that was famous, how they did it, and various other things. I chose to do John Z. DeLorean. I was curious if anyone can point me out to a website, or send me an email, about JZD and his accomplishments. I need to have 5 paragraphs about JZD, and make some interviewing questions. (Please note that I do not have to ask the man himself, but just make up questions and turn them into the teacher.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Erik, The leak is either coming from the water pump shaft seal or one of the coolant hoses behind the water pump. The best and easiest way to find any coolant leak is by conducting a "cooling system pressure test". If you don't own your own pressure tester than bring your D to a reliable repair facility and ask them to test your system.

hello all, back about a year ago, while i was searching the web, i found i site that sold door locks. And they did have a make for the delorean which also opened the doors by remote. The remote could also start the engine, and lock and unlock w/ out opening the doors. Problem is, i dont know what that site is anymore. Does anyone know what im talking about? I will try to find it in the mean time.

Here is something to think about. The horsepower difference between running the car with an OEM filter and no filter at all is less than 2 hp. So unless the K&N filter does some kind of magic trick with the air as it passes through the filter I would have serious doubts about any substantial increase in horsepower.

I purchased a K&N 57i air induction filter kit for my Opel Manta and I will DEFINATELY be purchasing one for my DMC (When I buy one). The K&N never has to be replaced!!!!
It also helps the engine to breath more easily and on my Manta I could hear the distinctive 'induction' sucking noise. It sounded great and with the
Big Bore exhaust on the back and noticed an increase in acceleration. Of course with the exhaust too the whole engine sucks and breathes out at the other end more efficiently.....
On the DMC the induction noise will be probably hardly heard but I think it is worth fitting. Just think how much you spend on a new air-filter every time you service your Delorean!!!!! I never had the car tested to find the exact horse power increase. I think 26 is a little unrealistic!!!!
Just my 2 pence worth!!!

Hello,
As being a electronic buff i could do a crystal replacement in a couple of seconds as long as that if the only problem. I've never seen a DeLorean clock but if it's a small little clock why not just get a new one?
