Congratulations Shannon - It's about time!

Others - If you were at the first KenK DeLorean Car Show, you
may recall that Shannon is the nut case who hung out of the back of
the Ford taking video of the drive from Cincinnati to Columbus. I
believe he's been to every national event and even helped with a
couple.

He's been active on the list essentially from the beginning, but
never had a car - until now! Be patient - It can be done! I love it
when a true enthusiast finally gets rolling.

Can anyone provide me with the wallpapers from DMC Texas WITH
calendar for November and December 2002 and January 2003?

Due to some disc-trouble these have gotten irreparable
and I would like to keep my collection intact.

Unfortunately there seems to be no archive anymore at delorean.com.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Ken,
That having everything in one big room sure sounds good to us. As you
know, we had to rely on YOU and your family to see that we got to other
spots in Memphis (and Tennessee). Many thanks again, we have great memories
of riding with your brother and mom and that pretty little gal that is on
the front of the mag!! We could not have come otherwise.
The one thing that made it rough for ME personally, in Memphis, was the
heat and humidity.....the car show out on that black top was MURDER. We
went anyway, but I could not do justice to all the cars and booths at
all...had to almost run for shade....however Bettye did fine.....she is from
Florida and she loves that kind of weather!!
I expect to have a Segway HT at Pigeon Forge, to move me around!! We got
hotel reservations the first day. Wondering how far the hotel is from those
two big convention centers?

Has anyone has had any experience or success with any performace spark plug wires, spark plugs, or ignition components? The stock wires seem like they could be better.

Well it finally happened... I got pulled over in my DeLorean! It's a nice afternoon here in NC so I popped the door open while driving through campus on my way to get some lunch. I passed one of our many zealous campus policemen, and he spun around and preceded to pull me over. He jumped out of his car, and was looking my D up and down trying not to grin from ear to ear. He made sure he checked out the interior especially well. He said "nice car... is it yours?" He then preceded to tell me "not to drive around with my door open... it was a safety hazard." It was soooo hard for me not to just laugh at him and tell him he just wanted to check out my car. Anyways... he let me go after giving my car a good look over. I've heard alot of stories about people getting pulled by the cops in their D's... but this has to be the stupidest one yet LOL.

Here's the thing, in warm weather my headliner (on the "T" panel, not
on the doors) looks great, but when it gets cold it sags down about
3/4 of an inch. Can anyone tell me the best way to correct this
problem?

Sorry all,
I was caught up in all the excitement and mucked up my VIN. It is 16506. It's
stamped Aug 82 as the build date but I am told it is technically an 83. Kinda
falls into the grey area of DeLorean history.

How hard is it to replace the window solenoids? Is this something
best left to DMCH or can any armchair mechanic do it?

Jay - At the risk of stepping outside of "keeping her stock", I am
running MSW wires, Bosch +4 plugs, and MSD Blaster 2 coil. The wires
have a solid core (with no resistance), and an internal braided ground
shield for radio noise suppression (coaxial construction). I really
like the plugs ... I use them in all my vehicles, and have gotten 40K
miles with no problems in my Intrepid and Explorer. The coil? Well,
what can you say about extreme voltage? I also use a K&N air filter.
Winged1 really likes the combination.

Jonas

Does the fabric sag from the backing or does the entire thing sag?
If it's the fabric you just get it reupholstered. If it is the
entire thing there are probably some clips missing or out of their
holes in the backing board. Either way you have to take it off for
repair.

Jay, Standard ignition wires are 7mm, Bosch and others. High tension wires
using MSD ignition systems and others are sometimes 8mm wires. Unless your
experiencing some kind of trouble, I wouldn't see how 7mm wires of high
quality would give you any trouble. New wires are carbon suppressed for
interference purpose and may offer some resistance. I don't know if you can
even buy straight stranded copper wires any more. FCC may have something to
say about it.

In the latest Old Cars Weekly Feb 20, that came in the mail today, on page
27 is a picture of a so called Futuristic Gullwing Bubblecar, that sure
looks neat. Used in the movie "Sleeper", with Woody Allen in 1974. Sold at
the Scottsdale Auction for 32K. Looks like it could levitate, but probably
not!! NIssan powered. Has a rear seat but still only two doors. FWIW

I'm not surprised it was a university security cop either, Louie. Those are probably the most likely to do something like that.

I have yet to be pulled over but I'm pretty sure I was followed by a cop once. Luckily I was in my neighborhood and on my way home, so by the time he was going to decide to pull me over for my intermitent tail lights I was already on my driveway. :)

I've heard that there are two slightly different shades of grey interiors on our cars. Is this true? If so, was a progressive thing (ie- a running change), or was it random? Perhaps they switched suppliers/dies at one point? Fellow DMLer Bill Robertson's VIN 5939 seemed to have a shade darker interior than mine now that I think about it. Or is this all just an urban legend?

The "repair" is replacement. The origional cloth is glued to a foam
backing. Over time the foam turns into yellow dust allowing the cloth
to unattach.

It is not too technically difficult to replace the window regulators.
When you buy them from one of the "D" venders they can walk you
through the procedure. One thing to be careful about, the inside of
the door has many SHARP edges of stainless steel. The best thing you
can do is to put duct tape over all the sharp edges before you begin
after removing the panels. (You did buy all that duct tape that the
government told you to didn't you?) Well now you have a good use for it!

I'm running a 40,000 volt coil. Love it. Allows me to move timing 10+
degrees BTC, and widen plug gap to .035". Fires 100% rain or shine no
matter the temperature.

Bosch wires are spiral core, not solid. Recommended for high voltage
applications. If you've still got factory originals should definitely
replace, but could do worse than another Bosch set.

Plugs are another matter. Don't trust Bosch with my coil, so I burn
Delcos. GM was messing with "High Energy Ignition" years before anyone
else. Get the LOWEST resistance available (~6 ohms).

I'd be leery running a high resistance plug on the original coil.
Could pose problems when dewy or humid.

Are you complaining or bragging? Sounds like you loved it - didn't

I must say though, seeing a D owner driving around with the doors
open when they have closed door instincts and reflexes scares the
bejebbers out me.
