The one I got today is entitled "eBay billing update" tries to lead you
into responding to a web site that looks to be official eBay...one
thing, there's no such place as billing_at_dml_eBay.com...watch out for this
one too. The scum are everywhere so be alert! I can forward the scams
I'm referring to if anyone wants to see how clever these jerks are, I
save them for show and tell. Slick crooks!

Ugh, this is annoying...

As the title says I still can't locate a driver's side torsion bar
for a REASONABLE price...

I hate calling around for one now because I feel like I'm just being
taken advantage of.

Am I insane for hoping to find one of these bars for $750 or so? I'm
already ticked that my seat cover funds have to be spent on this
thing, I'd just like to find one and be done with it...

As I said, $750 is what I'm looking to spend and I have paypal ready
for IMMEDIATE payment... And if you have seat covers at a decent
price, I'll be sure to buy from you when I get the funds in a month
or two...

Stupid torsion bar... ;(

Just let me know,
Gary Weaver II

Hello,

Following a recommendation from a fellow DML'er years ago, I put Red
Line MTL in my 5-speed. I've used it in my De Lorean for at least 5
years and I've had excellent results - especially in cold weather.

Happy motoring,

I need a timing chain sprocket support tool. Anyone got one they could rent
me?

RE: Small animals

My Delorean had been stored in a barn with a concrete floor under a cover
for over thirteen years when I bought it. After taking possession of the car
I found a good bit of insulation had been tucked into the forward
compartment where the jack and tools are kept ...some small animal had
created quite a condo for himself in there. It also looked like something
had tried to gnaw through the shift boot....but evidently it did not like
the taste because it there was only a small whole. The interior was perfect
otherwise and there was no other evidence of small creature's presence
during the long storage period.

I can vouch for the small animals finding a home in the D. I had
mine stored for a long period (7 months) in a garage that was dry
and heated and, I thought, tight.

Subject: Re: Just changed to SS Clutch line, better, but REVERSE and 1st gear STILL

I have had the Redline MTL in my car since May, installed at Dave
Single's house. My tranny also was the one that still had the 2nd
gear rollpin still intact (yay!). Before my clutch change/tranny
inspection, I had difficulty shifting into 5th without grinding. The
workaround I had was to engage the clutch after leaving 4th gear, and
disengaging it again when putting it into 5th. Another problem I've
had, which I've also encountered on other DeLoreans, is difficulty
pulling the tranny out of 1st and sometimes 2nd gear when it is
cold. After I had the Redline MTL put in, neither problem has
existed since. However I'm not going to say the MTL was the cure to
all my problems since the original clutch (which made it to 62,000
miles) could have been causing it as well. 4000 miles later on the
new clutch and MTL, its still working like the day we put it all back
together. (yea, I know I'm slacking on the mileage this year).

FYI, I have always had the "reverse gear grinding" issue with my
tranny and still do with the MTL, except when cold. I used to always
put it in 1st gear before going into reverse, but per Dave Single's
suggestion I now use 4th gear, because its a lot quicker to do, and
less wear on the syncros.

Rich.

I like your style, the big list of what you've tested has obviously
taken some time. My car ran badly/not at all due to the clogged
exhaust.

During my frustrations a collegue told me of another owner who could
hand crank the car, and got a spark, but it refused to fire. His
problem was down to a faulty ballast resistor connector which
*seemed* to be working fine. The telltale was that after a very few
attempts the resistor was VERY hot, ie burning hands heat.

Your file says you've measured all resistances, but it may be
something that you could take another quick look at, especially the
condition of the connectors themselves....

Good luckng' 0737
